The good news for restaurants is that food is one of the easiest things in the world to make look great on video. Here are twelve ideas that work, including a few we've filmed for local spots.
1. Sit down with the owner
People love knowing who's behind the food. A relaxed conversation at one of your tables, with the dishes in front of you, feels personal and holds attention. We did exactly this with Mike at Casa Del Mofongo in Bethlehem.
2. The signature dish, close up
Slow, close shots of your best dish being plated. Steam, sauce, the first bite. Keep it short and let the food do the talking.
3. Behind the line
Show the kitchen during prep or service: the grill, the speed, the teamwork. Customers trust what they can see.
4. Where your ingredients come from
If you buy local or make things from scratch, say so. Why Not Burgerz highlighted their local butcher in Allentown in their ad.
5. "Never frozen" and other promises
One short line that sets you apart, repeated on screen, sticks in people's heads.
6. Event and opening recaps
A new location, a special night or a festival appearance makes great content, before and after. See our opening recap for Why Not Burgerz and our Musikfest recap.
7. Customer reactions
Ask a few happy customers for their honest first-bite reaction. Real people are more convincing than any caption.
8. Rapid-fire questions with staff
"Favorite thing on the menu? Most underrated dish? What should a first-timer order?" Quick and fun, and it shows off your team. Here's how it looked with two local wineries.
9. Choose a side
"Fries or onion rings? Spicy or mild?" Viewers instinctively pick, and comment. See the format in our choose-a-side video.
10. The specials, every week
A quick weekly specials video gives regulars a reason to come back and gives you a reliable post every week.
11. Collabs with other local businesses
Team up with a brewery, a winery or a local creator. Both audiences see it, and it feels like community, not advertising.
12. Answer the questions people ask
Parking, reservations, gluten-free options, kids menu. Short answer videos save your staff time and remove reasons not to visit.
Make it consistent
The restaurants that win on social media post good videos consistently. One local restaurant we worked with earned 1.5M+ views in 90 days that way, without spending on ads. If you'd like us to plan, film and edit it for you, see our restaurant video marketing.
